The Builder Base in Clash of Clans contains a large stone object shaped like the head of the barbarian characters in the game. It is not unusual for villages in Clash of Clans to contain buildings or objects that are meant to be obstacles for the player. These can usually be cleared by spending a small amount of gold or elixir, and they reward the player an average of two gems for the effort. Because gems are the IRL currency of the game, this allows players to very slowly gain access to paid content for free.
Unlike most other obstacles, the Old Barbarian Statue requires a significant amount of builder gold to remove: 200,000 to be exact. This has caused many players to wonder if something special happens as a result of removing the statue.
It turns out that paying the 200,000 builder gold to remove the Old Barbarian Statue rewards players from the same table as standard obstacles – meaning its rewards aren’t anything astonishing. This also means it is almost certainly not worth removing. Why? Because you’ll get between zero and six gems for all your effort.
At most, a player can have two gold mines in the Builder Base. Once these are upgraded to the highest level, they generate 2,500 builder gold per hour – for a grand total of 5,000 per hour. It would take the most dedicated CoC players 40 hours to recover the cost of removing this obstacle. That time and builder gold is probably better spent building or upgrading defenses.
