When Charmed premiered on the WB in 1998, it followed the Halliwell sisters Prue, Piper, and Phoebe as they learned about their family secret. As fans know, the trio actually came from a long line of witches. As they came into their “Charmed” powers, they discovered that their destiny is to protect the innocent from evil. Over the course of the series, not every episode focused on fulfilling that destiny. Some were geared towards “creatures of the week....

Such a situation was pointed out by Can I Phish CEO Sebastian Salla who scanned 1.8 million Australian domain records in search of email security snafus. The mistake Salla was looking for was within SPF records, which handles individual IP addresses, but also IP ranges. If an organisation had entered a wide IP range, and had their email infrastructure sitting on a cloud provider, which reuse IP addresses unless an organisation pays extra for a dedicated IP address, there could be scope to take over an address covered by someone else’s SPF record....

What Is It? This app is unlike most of the recent iTunes App of the week. It only works in iMessage on the iPhone and iPad which I initially found a bit odd. Both players need to be running iOS 10 in order to play against each other, however, beyond that, the game is basic chess. You can change the background color of the board, but that’s about it. Since this runs in iMessage, you can pick up the game on your mobile devices....

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) on Wednesday unveiled proposed legislation to further regulate services provided via mobile apps and ensure these operated alongside the country’s other laws, including the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) and Data Security Law. Under the draft laws, operators that provided news services through mobile apps would have to obtain the licence to do so. They also must deliver such services within the scope of the licence and as permitted under the licence....

The WSJ reports that the state-run China Central TV has described the iPhone as a “national security concern” due to its location-tracking capabilities. In its national noon broadcast, state-run China Central Television criticized the “frequent locations” function in Apple’s iOS 7 mobile operating system, which tracks and records the time and location of the owner’s movements. The report quoted researchers who said that those with access to that data could gain knowledge of the broader situation in China or “even state secrets” …...

Although Apple’s name still is not mentioned in paperwork accompanying a 8,084-square-foot project at the Third Street Promenade (where Apple already operates a smaller store), said to feature the spectacular glass ceiling and the front façade, media outlets don’t have the slightest doubt that this in fact is an upcoming flagship Apple store. Just 24 hours after it came to light, city staff apparently greenlighted the project, reports Santa Monica Dispatch....

What Chicago PD has managed to do during it’s run is nothing short of remarkable. For fans of Chicago Fire, this is one show we didn’t want to see. For starters, the leader, Hank Voight was the enemy. After coming for Matt Casey, he became the No. 1 hated guy in Chicago. But this is the beauty of writing. While some things remain the same, like names and basic plot points, getting to know the characters over the first two seasons has been a wild ride. The sub-culture of the witches adds many facets to their characters and complicates their dynamics with their Greendale neighbors. The Church of Night’s teachings and practices make for some puzzling ethical choices by the witches and some major magic spectacles in and around Greendale....

Primary iPhone assembler Foxconn has reportedly bought a stake in China’s top chipmaker, Tsinghjau Unigroup – but appears to have done so without the necessary government approval. The move comes at a time when Apple is seeking to widen its chip supplier roster to guard against supply chain disruptions … Bloomberg cites its own sources. The Taiwanese government views this as a “sensitive” deal, and requires companies to seek approval from the country’s investment watchdog....

Earlier this month, a new type of Mac- and iOS-based malware called “WireLurker” appeared online. Apple responded by blocking affected apps from launching on OS X, but another development was made in the case today. According to ZDNet, Chinese authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with the malware and taken down the website that was found to be distributing it. The suspects are believed to be the creators of the software....

Disney is planning a new movie musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, A Christmas Carol, from director Bill Condon. Condon previously directed the 2017 live action Beauty and the Beast, which was a massive box office success. Other credits of his include the last two Twilight films and Dreamgirls. On November 15, his latest film The Good Liar, starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen, will hit theaters. A Christmas Carol is a popular choice for Hollywood adaptations, with Disney’s new project being one of many currently in development....

Captain Marvel and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor, Clark Gregg, claims that the one Marvel character he would most like to appear alongside is none other than Adam Warlock. First appearing in 2008’s Iron Man, Gregg has been a constant presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, moving from the big screen to ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which is currently gearing up for its sixth season. Gregg is now returning to the movies with Captain Marvel and, along with Samuel L....

Doctor Who season 10 won’t air until Spring 2017, but to tide Whovians over in the meantime there is, of course, the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special as well as a new spinoff series - Class. Set at Coal Hill Academy (née School, an institution which has played a small but significant role throughout Doctor Who’s 50+ year history), the spinoff series follows four students as they traverse the trials of their young lives as well as the possible end of all existence....

Charlize Theron has confirmed that Atomic Blonde 2, a sequel to her neon-drenched 2017 spy thriller, is moving forward. Though Theron has made Oscar-bait movies in the past, 2017 was the year of action movies for the actress. Theron starred alongside action heavyweights Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel in the turbo-charged The Fate of the Furious, an international blockbuster that grossed $1.23 billion worldwide. She also headlined Atomic Blonde, a period spy thriller helmed by John Wick co-director David Leitch....

In Marvel Comics, the magician known as Baron Karl Amadeus Mordo is as straight-up supervillain. He’s a jealous man who immediately becomes an adversary of Doctor Strange. Even if you only saw the wonderful 2007 animated film Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, that was all too evident and obvious. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mordo is being modernized and updated so he’s not an easy-to-read two-dimensional character, nor is he evil....

The analysts at Consumer Intelligence Research Partners are out with a new report today highlighting expectations for Apple’s first fiscal quarter of 2021. Apple is set to report its fiscal Q1 2021 earnings next week, and CIRP expects strong results driven by the iPhone 12 and growth in services such as Apple Music and Apple TV. During Q1 2021, CIRP estimates that the new iPhone 12 models accounted for 56% of total iPhone sales in the United States, led by the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max....
