Today, Bloomberg is reporting that two of the five stores investigated have been shut down. Apple currently has four stores in China. While that number will increase greatly over the next year, it isn’t surprising to see local businesses trying to fill the void in the interim....

Declining Chinese iPhone sales may see Apple report disappointing earnings for its fiscal Q4 (calendar Q3), suggests Goldman Sachs … While not seeing any Apple-specific bad news, analyst Rod Hall says that the company is likely to be hit by a significant decline in demand for smartphones into Q3. CNBC saw the investor’s note published yesterday. Hall suggested that Apple’s new line-up would help Chinese iPhone sales ‘partially offset’ the overall decline in the market, but would not compensate completely....

Hong Kong-based labor watchdog Student & Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour released a report on Tuesday that criticizes Apple for failing to properly monitor the labor practices of its suppliers. Despite performing a 72-percent increase over the number of audits it performed in 2011 following FLA audits, SACOM’s report claimed interviews with 130 workers from three Apple suppliers showed the company is failing to meet basic humane labor practices. SACOM’s report outlined a number of violations reported by workers from three factories owned by Apple suppliers Foxlink, Pegatron, and Wintek....

Charlie’s Angels star Naomi Scott announces that filming for the movie reboot has officially wrapped. Led by Scott, Kristen Stewart, and Ella Balinska as the titular crime-fighters, Sony Pictures began production in September. The project has been spearheaded by Elizabeth Banks, who will be directing and playing one of the Bosley characters. In 2017, Banks starred opposite Scott as the villainous Rita Repulsa in Saban’s Power Rangers reboot. The franchise has undergone multiple revivals since the original 1970s series....
